Hello!

We are Katie and Jay and are grateful you
are reviewing our profile.  Having been
through the adoption process, we
understand how important this decision is
for you and can only thank you sincerely
for your courage, strength and the respect
you have for your baby.  We can’t
completely understand what you are going
through, but what is clear for us is that we
have been called upon to be a resource to
you, giving an assurance that the decision
you make will mean only the very best to
your child.

Our beginnings...

We will be married 13 years this August.
Jay and his friend Ed came into a local
Restaurant where Katie and her sister
worked.  From that moment, not only did we fall in love and get married, so did Ed and Katie’s sister.  “Jay came at a critical time in my life.  It was our first date when I learned my Mother was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor.  One year later my Mother passed away after a very courageous battle.”

We have been through challenging times in our life.  The loss of Katie’s Mother, infertility, and most recently the loss of Jay’s Father.  But these trials have made us closer than ever.  We get stronger and better every day.  We have a strong faith, a big network of family and friends and an unbelievable love for children.

Why adopt again...

In 2003 our son’s birthparents selected us, similar to the process you are going through now, and asked us to be there for their son’s birth.  We loved getting to know them and saw how much love they had for their baby.  We feel every day we owe it to them to love him, provide for him, and make sacrifices for his benefit.  And we do.  We love being parents and want very much to have another child.

Adopting Chase has been such a blessing for us.  He is a gift sent from above.  We have so much to offer but our greatest contribution to your child will be the love they receive not only from us but our entire family.  There are three other adopted children in our family from Korea, Guatemala, and China.  Adoption is near and dear to our hearts and we celebrate how fortunate we are to have been given an opportunity to love these children.

Katie by Jay...

Katie is petite, with curly brown hair and brown eyes.  What I find most amazing is that she can be separated from Chase for less than an hour but when they see each other it’s like they haven’t seen each other for months.  He hugs her so tight and she just looks at him in awe over just how lucky she is to have him.

While petite, Katie is amazingly strong.  There is nothing she can’t do and is the glue that holds our family together.  She has so many of her Mother’s genuine qualities.  She gives her time, volunteering at local soup kitchens, walking in fund raising events, or just making someone’s life a bit easier, even at her own expense.  She is very attentive to our son and his well being.  She’s the one that is focused on homework, planning play dates, his extracurricular activities, and mostly that he is having lots of fun.

Katie works from home and has a flexible work schedule.  She manages the recruitment activity for a major employer.  Katie has the luxury of being able to attend all of Chase’s school activities, chaperone field trips and be there for when he leaves and comes home from School.  This is very important to Katie as growing up her Mother made leaving and coming home from School very special.

Jay by Katie...

Jay has brown hair and blue eyes and is full of humor.  No matter what age, he can carry on a conversation with just about anyone.  Jay is very athletic, enjoys sports and dedicates himself to Chase’s life.  He is the Coach of his basketball team, and his #1 fan.  Jay is always on the floor playing with Chase, allowing Chase to play pranks on him, or pretending Chase’s hiding spots for hide and go seek are not so easy to find.  He is the story teller at night, coming up with the most outrageous stories that Chase thinks are amazing.

Jay is full of life, very spontaneous and loves company and being surrounded by family and friends.  He is a Financial Advisor and has the luxury of his schedule mirroring banking hours.  This affords Jay the opportunity to be home for Chase sharing in his sport-related activities. Jay is a hard worker, taking after his parents who needed to work hard to ensure the best life for their son. Jay went to the best of schools and education is very important to him.

Chase...

Chase has an infectious personality, you want to be around him, and you want to hear what he’s going to say next.  He has an interesting balance of being both smart but incredibly funny and silly.  His focus is set on being a big brother.  He lost his first tooth the other day and made us leave a note for the Tooth Fairy to not take it so that he can show his new baby brother or sister.  Chase is six years old and pretty much thinks he knows everything about everything so I’m sure we’ll be getting a lesson or two on taking care of a newborn.  He is very spiritual, very respectful and quite entertaining.

Parenting...

We strive hard to provide the very best for Chase.  He attends a Private, Catholic School known for its strong education program, but with emphasis on teaching good morals and respect for one another.  They have a School Mass weekly and religion is taught daily.  We are really pleased with the School offerings, beginning with a fantastic Pre-School program.  What is great is that we get to see Chase off to School each morning and there each day for when he gets home.

We both have very flexible work schedules that afford us the opportunity to be very active in Chase’s life.  Additionally Jay’s Mom is a retired Nurse so our new child will have great care and love.  Jay’s Mom will stay at our home to assist us in caring for our new child.  She is also a great cook, so we are excited to have her come soon!

Our home...

We live in a quaint, historic neighborhood surrounded by trees, a river and many community parks.  What we enjoy most is just being able to walk to where we need to go.  We love Saturday mornings, waking up and walking to the local diner for breakfast.  You see everyone you know there and get to enjoy the surroundings along the way.  Within walking distance you can find us at the ice cream parlor, park, pool, running around the track field, or at the donut shop – a favorite for Chase.  The town celebrates many parades for Memorial Day, and 4th of July and there are many benefit walks that we enjoy participating in.  Bailey and Tyson, our Labradors, join us as well.  Chase’s favorite time is in the spring and having lemonade stands.  The neighbors are great and gosh quite generous.

We have a great home.  It has so much character and warmth.  Chase has his own room, but can usually be found in our room.  He has his own playroom full of toys, even from when he was an infant that he just refuses to part with.  We already have a nursery room set up next to Chase’s room.  We have a fenced in front and back yard, with a jungle gym and many toys for hours of fun.  Our home is often filled with children.  Whether it’s my nieces or nephews or Chase’s friends, it seems we always have lots of children around.

Fun times...

We ensure we take family vacations each year and it’s always with our families.  We’ve taken trips to Dude Ranches, Bahamas, Florida, and Cape Cod.  Chase loves having his many cousins around.  Our last trip to Cape Code included 23 family members all in one big house.  Needless to say it was never quiet and never boring.

We’ve taken Chase to cultural events that expose him to diverse settings and history.   He’s been to many museums of art, science, animals, and discovery.  Sharing these trips with our new child will be amazing.

Our families...

Katie is the youngest of five children.  She dedicates a lot of her time to her Dad, always sharing breakfasts with him, inviting him to fix projects around the house (even when nothing is broken), and having him tell our son the many, many interesting stories he has about his 75 years of life.  Katie is the Aunt to 8 nieces and nephews, and we share in their school plays, athletic games, church events, etc.  She has always had an active role in their childhood.

While Jay is an only child, he is one of 22 great-grandchildren.  So birthday parties are often and never small!  Jay’s cousin Alan is Chase’s Godfather and can spend hours putting Legos together with Chase.  His family gathers often, always in the spirit of enjoying each other’s company.  Jay is the oldest of the grandchildren and often offers encouragement and advice to his younger cousins.  Jay’s Aunt and Uncle have a pool so our summer is usually spent at their home.  Jay’s Mom is near and dear to Jay always lending a hand.  She and Chase have a motto of what happens at Nan’s, stays at Nan’s.  So needless to say, there are minimal rules at her house!

Open adoption...

We have a great relationship with Chase’s Birthmom, sharing letters and photos, and we hope to one day have another relationship with someone as special as her.  We realize each adoption situation is different, and we will respect whatever degree of openness you prefer.  If you choose us as the family for your baby, you can be assured that your child will be loved unconditionally and will always know of your love.  It is important to us that our children know and appreciate their unique adoption story.  Your child will always know how much you love him/her and what an incredible sacrifice it was for you to make an adoption plan. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Thank you!

Thank you for reading our profile, and we
hope we will get the opportunity to talk or
meet with you.  We pray for you to have
the continued strength and support you
need.  Take care and best wishes to you
and your child.
